Mike provides financial advisory, business planning and corporate governance assistance to senior business executives and counsel.

Professional Experience

Prior to joining Huron, Mike was the worldwide managing partner of the Strategic Value Services group at Arthur Andersen LLP. He has worked with clients in a number of industries, including automotive, healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, transportation, technology, food, gaming, telecommunications, consumer products, retail, construction, services and energy.

Mike has worked extensively throughout his career in assisting companies with a variety of complex financial advisory issues, frequently in crisis situations. He has provided hands-on management of complex turnaround situations and advised companies on strategy, finance, transaction, valuation, accounting, forensic and litigation issues throughout his career. He has provided expert valuation and financial testimony on a number of occasions in federal and state jurisdictions, including U.S. Bankruptcy Court and U.S. Tax Court. Mike developed the Huron Value Framework, which his team has used to help multiple global organizations define and execute their most advantageous alternatives.

In the senior housing industry, Mike served as the financial advisor to the National Benevolent Association in its reorganization efforts through Chapter 11. He initiated and implemented numerous profitability and growth initiatives, which resulted in the successful reorganization of the NBA. His team’s work included the closing of unprofitable facilities, removing significant payroll and non-payroll expenses and centralizing all back office functions. These actions resulted in a substantial profitability increase and a very high recovery for the creditors. He also managed the bankruptcy filing, management and emergence, including preparation for first day motions, preparing the Company for filing, preparing statements and schedules, completing mandatory bankruptcy reporting, evaluating strategic options, stabilizing vendor relationships, assisting with the Asset Purchase Agreement, analyzing various scenarios, implementing a KERP and negotiating with creditors.
