Alan has more than 35 years of experience working with utilities clients on accounting matters, rate cases, and a variety of special projects.

Professional Experience

Prior to joining Huron, Alan most recently was a managing director in the utilities industry practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, and prior to that, rose through the ranks at Arthur Andersen LLP’s utilities and telecommunications practice.

Representative examples of Alan’s engagement experience include:

• Assisted a number of companies in the preparation, review, and filing of Registration Statements with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to raise debt and equity capital.
• Consulted with an electric transmission company on whether costs charged to generation companies based on specific costs were in accordance with the costs permitted by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
• Involved in multiple projects relating to rate case testimony on a number of issues including income tax normalization, CWIP in rate base and reasonableness of allocation methodologies.
• Assisted the first two Chinese utilities to list on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in registration filings to have their shares traded on the NYSE. The process involved working with attorneys, company personnel, and the SEC to file the equivalent of a Form S-1.
• Testified before the Florida Public Service Commission on behalf of a Florida telephone company to address projected test year, a computer model developed to simplify forecast procedures, and propriety of including pension asset in rate base.
• At both Andersen and PwC developed and instructed seminars covering the unique aspects of the traditional regulatory process. Conducted numerous training sessions for internal use as well as conducted open registration and special sessions tailored for individual utility companies.
